is a group of investigators that has dedicated itself for many years to helping people with paranormal activity. The group originally began as the research branch of the Appalachian Fortean Society in October 2004. The AFS (with a link on the left) is still active as a weekly discussion group (discussing not just ghosts, but the weird and unusual all around us), and SEPRS still draws its investigators from the AFS.
As you read on our home page, our number one goal is to help you, our client. SEPRS is a service organization. Many times a few simple techniques will rid a home or place of business of paranormal activity. Sometimes not, though. So what we do, after a thorough investigation has revealed that there is most likely a ghost (or ghosts) in a location, and there isn't a mundane cause, is to educate you on what you can do to try to get rid of this activity. If that is unsuccessful, then we need to help you come up with strategies to deal with your paranormal activity. What we have found in many cases is that when people understand what's going on with this activity, and that nothing is going to hurt them, they don't mind sharing their space with their ghost. Sometimes the only help that people need from us is to come in and conduct an investigation, and let them know that yes, they do have paranormal activity, and no, they're not going crazy. We haven't yet run into a case where the client felt compelled to move. We have always been able (so far) to help the client remain comfortably in their home or business.

All investigations are professionally conducted, free, and your information is kept confidential. We are based in the Knoxville, Maryville, Sevierville area. We can usually arange an investigation in East Tennessee fairly quickly, anywhere from Crossville in the west to Asheville, NC in the east, from Bristol and Johnson City in the north to Chattanooga in the south.
Once again, our number one priority is helping normal people through a paranormal experience. While we compile evidence just like any other paranormal research organization, to us this is a means to an end. Evidence allows us to make a better determination of what is occuring to better help the client. Helping the client is foremost. Let face it, all the evidence in the world isn't going to convince some people, and some people are "true believers" and don't need any evidence. But we are not like some organizations that are just for the curious and thrill seekers, and definitely not like other organizations who are in it, unfortunately, just for the publicity.
